Maple Grove Church of God seeks a pastor ordained in and by the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) with strong preaching and interpersonal skills. Candidates must also be skilled in providing pastoral care. We have a history of pastors who reach beyond the church’s boundaries and serve the entire community as well as parishioners. Our hope is that this tradition will be continued by our next pastor.
Sunday morning worship includes traditional hymns and Church of God heritage hymns accompanied by piano and organ along with contemporary songs often accompanied by guitar. Regular elements also include Scripture reading, congregational prayer, a sermon, and benediction. We observe Communion on the first Sunday of each month. We expect an incoming pastor to cooperate with our musicians in planning worship, coordinating the music, scripture, and order of service. In a recent survey (January 2025) more than 90% of respondents expressed the opinion that our current worship style meets their spiritual needs “mostly” or “a lot.” We anticipate the next pastor will put a personal stamp on the service, but we also expect they will respect the traditional nature of our congregation. Please watch 2 or 3 of our recorded worship services before applying for this position. https://www.youtube.com/@maplegrovechurchofgod9153/streams]
Besides planning Sunday morning worship services and preaching each Sunday, the pastor will be expected to administer the church staff, which consists of a secretary and custodian. Furthermore, the pastor will work with the Church Council to lead ministry opportunities such as a midweek fellowship time, outreach ministries, community projects, etc. The congregation has identified Youth and Children’s Ministry, Church Growth, Family Ministry, and Making Disciples as the ministry areas most in need of attention. Our budget for 2026 includes line items for part-time youth and children’s pastors. The incoming pastor would be expected to continue the good work in other areas, while also working with the Council to address identified areas.
In summary, we seek a pastor who will provide sensitive pastoral care to our aging congregation; plan worship with spiritual insight; offer well-grounded and soul-nourishing biblical sermons; possess the wisdom, discernment and interpersonal skills to come alongside and work with our diverse population; and provide direction and growth for the future, so Maple Grove can continue to be God’s family on mission for years to come.
